Different types of bass 

As a child, I thought that bass is the name of one single fish, and when I dive into fishing practically and went out to different places for fishing, then I came to know that the fish I thought was bass is actually called" Largemouth Bass" and there are plenty of many different types of bass out there in the world
Lets me introduce you to some of their types, names, and appearance


1: Large Mouth bass

  • Freshwater gamefish
  • They Survive only 15-20 minutes out of water
  • They eat small fish like sunfish
  • They are attracted to worms and crankbaits 
  • They live in ponds, lakes, and rivers preferably clean water 
  • Can eat a large catch 50% of their total length

2: Small Mouth Bass


  • Freshwater specie
  • Mostly found in lakes 
  • Eats small insects, small fish 
  • Spinner baits, soft plastic worms, and jigs are used for catching it
  • Can survive 15-20 minutes out of water 
  • Mostly found in Eastern-central North America

3: Australian Bass


  • Medium Sized Freshwater Specie
  • Found on the East Coast of Australia
  • Lives in rivers and streams
  • Insects, worms, and small fish
  • Garden worms or live Insects are used as baits to catch them

4: Stripped Bass

  • Also named RockFish or Striper
  • Found on the Atlantic Coast of North America 
  • Large Sized Saltwater Specie
  • Eats worms, small fish, shellfish
  • Bloodworms and Sandworms are used as baits

5: Black Bass




  • Freshwater Specie
  • Found in North America
  • Eats small fish, frogs, mice, snakes, and even turtles 
  • Soft plastic Jerkbaits and crankbaits are used to catch them
  • They usually live in the dark shallower area underwater
There are plenty of other types, but we have mentioned some popular ones. 



 Now when you are aware of these types then let's grab a spinning rod and reel to catch a bass. Bass are very popular among anglers and popular gamefish. They are considered the hardest survivors compared to other fish as they can survive more than 20 munites out of the water and mostly give a hard fight to anglers catching them. They are a bit angry fish.
